U.S. — U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice has officially withdrawn her name from consideration for Secretary of State, NBC news confirms.
Rice was widely believed to be the frontrunner for the position, but has been the subject of controversy following the deadly attack on the US consulute in Libya.
In the days following the attack, Rice was criticized for not calling the incident an "act of terror".
There's no word yet on whether the attacks in Libya had and role in her withdrawing her name from consideration for Secretary of State.
