Tyler police searching for armed robber

Tyler — On January 14, 2013 at about 9:45 p.m. Tyler Police Department officers responded to the Family Dollar store located at 510 Loop 323 SSW in reference to a Commercial Robbery.

Officers spoke with the store clerk who described the suspect as a black male between 6'0" and 6'2", 160 to 175 pounds wearing a dark colored ski mask with a shark emblem, a white shirt with a dark colored hoody, dark colored jeans and a sty under his right eye.

According to the clerk, the suspect entered the business, raised his shirt and displayed a handgun while demanding money.

After taking an undetermined amount of cash the suspect exited the business and ran north across Front St. into a wooded area.

Officers also spoke with witnesses who provide the same suspect description as the clerk.

Officers searched the scene and the wooded area north of the business, but were unable to locate the suspect.

No one was injury during the incident and the case remains under investigation.
