Tyler Airport recommends travelers arrive 40 minutes prior to departure

Tyler Pounds Regional Airport is reporting that flights departing from Tyler are very full due to Spring Break trips combined with East Texas business travel.

“With flights being full, passengers should plan to add a little more time for check-in and screening,” said Airport Manager Davis Dickson.  “Just this week I have seen customers rushing in 15 minutes before departure time only to miss their flight.

It is important to be at the ticket counter to check in at least 40 minutes before departure time. Typically the ticket counter will close the flight 30 minutes before departure to finalize procedures for takeoff.”

The airport recommends booking your flight on-line or through a travel agent for full service reservations and planning.  Begin the reservation process by entering TYR as your departure location.

The airport has a number of links on their web site for flight reservations.  Rental car reservation sites, TSA travel tips and real time flight status can be found at www.tylerairport.com.

“Flying from Tyler Pounds is extremely convenient,” added Dickson.  “There is no long commute and parking is very close to our terminal.”

Tyler Pounds Regional is served by American Airlines to DFW Airport and United Airlines to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.   Tyler Pounds Regional Airport was awarded FAA’s Airport of the Year in 2007.
