Wood County Game Warden Derek Spitzer tells Fox 51 a 27-year old man drowned Monday night.
It happened around 6:40 at Lake Hawkins, which is in Wood County, right outside of Hawkins.
Spitzer says the man was swimming near the "swim buoy" about 80 yards out.
He says he did 2 laps, but when he got to the buoy line, he started struggling.
Witnesses say, the man was under water for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Spitzer says, a couple guys found him and brought him to shore.
CPR was unsuccessful.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are not releasing the man's name, because next of kin has not been notified.
