Local toy drive to benefit children in Africa

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - 4:32pm

Although they haven't yet officially opened the doors to Wright Phillips & Co., principals Jason Wright and Chris Phillips are already giving back by hosting a local toy drive fundraiser to benefit orphan children in Zambia, Africa.

All toys collected during the toy drive will be shipped to Zambia next week in an effort to fill homes in the Tree of Life Children's Village. Operated by Irving, Texas-based Family Legacy Missions International, the Children's Village is a welcoming community of homes built to bring comprehensive transformation to the lives of Zambian orphans from some of the most severe backgrounds of poverty, abuse and neglect. Phillips and his wife, Dr. Erin Phillips, a local neurologist, have traveled to the Children's Village on multiple occasions over the past three years to love and serve orphan children.

In addition to using their office at 1310 ESE Loop 323 as a drop-off location until March 6 for new and used toys, Wright Phillips & Co. will provide a corporate trailer for drop-off at the following Tyler locations:

•February 29 at Texas Bank and Trust located at 2323 W. Grande
•March 1-2 at Premier Fitness located at 5604 Donnybrook Ave.
•March 5-6 at Tony Cruz's XTC Fitness & Sports located at 7922 South Broadway

Wright and Phillips, seasoned real estate professionals and current partners in the local CENTURY 21 franchise, are launching Wright Phillips & Co. March 1, 2012, with a fundamental business philosophy rooted in giving back to the community.

"Our philosophy is simple: We want to assemble and grow a real estate firm whose foundation is rooted in charitable giving," explained Phillips. "Jason and I are both very passionate about our support of charitable organizations, both locally and abroad. And while we are in the business of helping our clients successfully buy and sell real estate, we feel incredibly blessed to be able to do so in a wonderful city like Tyler."

In addition to the toy drive, Wright Phillips & Co. is in the process of establishing its Charitable Partner Program, whereby selected local non-profit organizations will receive a percentage of all real estate transactions completed by Wright Phillips & Co. agents.
