(LONGVIEW, Texas)— LeTourneau University’s commencement speaker will be Albert M. Erisman for the two commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 5, that will be held in Longview at the S. E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave.
Erisman is the Executive in Residence at Seattle Pacific University, where he teaches business ethics and business and technology both at the undergraduate and the graduate level.
Erisman also co-teaches a doctor of ministry cohort on the theology of work for Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He is the executive editor and co-founder of Ethix magazine (www.ethix.org). He has co-authored three books and published several papers.
In addition to serving on the board for several companies, including Gladiator Technologies and PYCO, Erisman’s speaking has taken him to countries including India, Nepal, Ireland, Ukraine, Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Central African Republic, Austria, and China. Erisman is also involved in economic development in the Central African Republic, and he is currently serving on the board of not-for-profit organizations such as Kiros and Theology of Work, both of which focus on faith and work.
In 2001, Erisman completed a 32-year career at The Boeing Company, where he was director of research and development for computing and mathematics for a decade. He managed 250-300 scientists, mathematicians, statisticians, and engineers to bring new technology to Boeing’s processes and products.
The first commencement ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 5, for nearly 210 traditional-age college students who will receive bachelor’s degrees from the School of Aeronautical Science, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology. In addition, 18 will receive associate degrees, 17 of which are in Air Traffic Control.
The second ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, for working adult students from LETU’s nontraditional programs at Longview and from sites across the state and online. Nearly 130 students will receive bachelor degrees, with an additional 24 earning Master of Education degrees, 16 receiving MBA degrees, two Master of Science in Engineering and one Master of Strategic Leadership degree. In addition, 14 graduates will receive associate degrees.
