Juvenile arrested in drive by shooting

On Thursday morning at about 12:34 am, Tyler Police received a 911 call from the residents at 829 West 32nd Street. The complainant stated that a grey sedan had just fired several shots at the house.

Officers quickly responded to the scene and located the suspect vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle but the driver sped off after the initial stop and a short pursuit followed. Four black males fled from the vehicle while it was still in motion on the 2800 block of N Border. Officers captured one of the suspects hiding in the area a short time later. This suspect was found to be a male juvenile.

The other suspects managed to evade capture on foot. However, Officers recovered the suspect vehicle as well as a firearm and other evidence in the vehicle.

The captured suspect was brought to the Tyler Police Department and was interviewed by Detectives. The suspect is charged with Aggravated Assault and Evading. He will be transported to the Smith County Juvenile Attention Center due to his juvenile status.

No one was injured at the victim’s house. This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department.
