NEW YORK -- The poll, which was conducted among 25 million American Facebook members which visit the BetsGoWild application, revealed that most Americans have reacted to the Simpsons movie's success in the box office, and prefer the all-American Homer to the British Potter.
The Potter - Homer war is heating up particularly in the U.S. Seventy percent of Americans, in a survey created by Facebook's application partner www.betsgowild.com, prefer Homer and the Simpsons over Harry and his schoolmates. Thirty percent of the voters, however, remain loyal to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was released for the big screen prior to "The Simpsons Movie". When considering the gross income, last weekend's figures predict a greater success for The Simpsons, which grossed 72 million dollars, over Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which grossed only 17 million dollars. Homer is taking the lead as more Americans seem to identify with him, and Facebook will continue to follow on the two character's popularity during August. Along with Homer's temporary success, most Americans have expressed their concerns that the movie marks the end of the Simpsons TV series: 62 percent of Americans voted in the Facebook - BetsGoWild survey that they believe the Simpsons movie indicates the end of the popular series, whereas 38 percent are certain that Homer Simpsons will still be seen on American TVs for years to come. |
