Jason Boland & the Stragglers will play in Longview in support of their newest album, "Rancho Alto" with Grammy Award-winning producer Llyod Maines (Dixie Chicks, Robert Earl Keen). Boland wrote or co-wrote 8 of 11 tracks and
is a country purist whose music has much more in common with Waylon, Merle, Willie, and Johnny Cash than what is heard on the airwaves these days. He clings onto the notion that the fundamental values of the genre are soulful, blue-collar, defiant, truthful, and real. The Wallstreet Journal says, "On his sixth studio album, Mr. Boland adheres to country traditions (but largely avoids their lyrical cliches) using his baritone voice to lead the dancehall engine of his band the Stragglers."
